About me

Luiza Keen

MBACP, BA(Hons)

Ever since I can remember, I have been curious about what makes people who they are and why we are so different. My curiosity is what inspired me to become a therapist, and it guides every encounter I have with people I work with.

In my journey of supporting my clients, I’ve discovered the transformative power of curiosity, warmth, and gentleness. These elements intertwine, fostering an attentive connection, essential to building a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Curiosity is the cornerstone, embodying interest, attention and respect. Throughout my practice, I’ve consistently embraced this element by approaching those I support with open-mindedness and attunement. By asking questions and listening without assumptions, I’ve built meaningful, non-judgmental, and trusting relationships. Curiosity is key to exploring individuals' unique needs and ensuring no detail goes unnoticed.

I gained clinical experience at various charities providing community mental health care, empowering people to re-establish their rhythm in the dance of life. I have over 15 years of experience working in educational settings with young people and their parents facing unprecedented difficulties navigating life amid today’s challenges, helping them understand and support their children by creating space for authentic, accepting parent-child relationships.

Alongside professional experience, life experience is equally important to me. My path into therapy was shaped by my own struggles with childhood trauma, family breakup, building a new blended family, isolation within multicultural environments, navigating parental challenges as well as coping with women’s health issues and life transitions, most recently menopause.

My own experience has taught me humility, sensitivity, and attentiveness to the needs and struggles of others—values that are equally important to me in therapeutic work.

Qualifications

I hold a First Class BA(Hons) degree in Relational-Integrative Counselling from Middlesex University and am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and I follow their Ethical Framework.

I undertake regular supervision as an important part of my practice.

I continue to expand my practice through professional development, deepening my understanding of relationships, intimacy, and how these can intersect with attachment, identity, and our earlier experiences.

Through continuous professional development workshops, I have deepened my knowledge in trauma therapy, group work, anger management and life coaching, which I find extremely useful in my client work. I hold professional indemnity insurance and participate in regular supervision and ongoing training to support my development as a therapist and to ensure my clients receive the highest quality care.
